Tournament overview
The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2026 brought 11 teams to Daejeon, South Korea, from June 28 to July 12. Riot Games used best-of-five series throughout both the Play-In and double-elimination Bracket Stage, with Fearless Draft preventing teams from reusing champions. A $2 million prize pool and a conditional place at Worlds made every series important.
Hanwha Life Esports opened the bracket with consecutive 3-0 wins over Team Secret Whales and G2 Esports. Bilibili Gaming stopped that momentum with a 3-1 victory in the upper final and moved directly into the title match. HLE then survived a five-game lower final against LYON, creating a rematch with BLG one day later. It was the first time an MSI champion would emerge from the lower bracket.
HLE won Game 1 of the Grand Final, but BLG answered twice and moved to match point at 2-1. Hanwha Life forced the decider in Game 4. In the final game, BLG started quickly, but a failed Baron attempt allowed HLE to steal the objective, win the fight and march into the base. The 3-2 victory gave HLE its first MSI title and ended BLG’s Golden Road bid. Zeus used unexpected Swain and Dr. Mundo picks in the closing games and earned Finals MVP, becoming only the second player after Faker to win both Worlds Finals MVP and MSI Finals MVP.
