Dota 2 Trove of Terror Adds Tidehunter Arcana and 15 Sets
Valve has released the Trove of Terror for Dota 2, featuring 15 themed item sets, a new Tidehunter Arcana, the return of a Drow Ranger Arcana and new appearances for Tormentor and Roshan.
Valve opens the Trove of Terror
Valve has released the Trove of Terror for Dota 2. The new treasure is built around eldritch and otherworldly designs and includes a collection of 15 themed item sets. Valve describes the package as containing Fantastical and Immortal treatments across the collection.
The update is available now inside the game. Unlike a balance patch, this release focuses on cosmetic content and progression rewards rather than changes to heroes, items or the competitive map.
Tidehunter receives the Maw of the Megalodon Arcana
The headline addition is Maw of the Megalodon, a new Arcana for Tidehunter. It replaces the hero's model and adds custom animations, visual effects, taunts and voice lines. The design also gives Tidehunter a familiar-looking corpse that he carries as part of the set.
Valve says the Arcana has three shark-themed designs. The announcement presents these as styles that can be unlocked by mastering the Arcana's secrets, while the detailed progression requirements are shown inside Dota 2.
A Drow Ranger Arcana returns in a new form
The Trove also brings back a previously released Drow Ranger Arcana. Players can use its established appearance or switch to a new grave-stalking form created for this release.
This makes the treasure relevant both to players who missed the earlier Arcana and to existing owners interested in the additional style. Valve has not announced any gameplay advantage connected to either Arcana.
New Tormentor and Roshan appearances
Opening treasures also contributes toward guaranteed milestone rewards. One milestone unlocks a new all-seeing appearance for Tormentor, while a later milestone grants a new eldritch design for Roshan.
These rewards change how major neutral objectives look but do not alter their rules or statistics. Valve's announcement contains no competitive balance changes, so the familiar timings and strategic role of Roshan and Tormentor remain unchanged.
What the release means for Dota 2 players
Trove of Terror is primarily a visual collection for players who enjoy hero customization and rare cosmetics. Its most important additions are the first Tidehunter Arcana, the returning Drow Ranger Arcana and the two map-creature appearances tied to opening milestones.
Because the treasure and its purchase details are presented inside the Dota 2 client, players can see the complete item list, progression thresholds and available acquisition options before deciding whether to participate. The content is already live as of October 7, 2026.
CryptoGambler will continue to cover major Dota 2 updates and the competitive events affected by future gameplay patches.
